Soccer Ball Brigade
What is the easiest way to disperse a group of boys? Tell them that you will trade a “new” soccer ball for one the is made from leaves, plastic or any combination therein.
The Viterbo University Girls soccer team and West Salem Middle School donated over 20 used soccer balls to be given away in Kenya.
I made it an even up trade – one of their homemade soccer balls for one of mine.
As the afternoon worn on, so did the accumulation of boys, my collection of “bag balls”, “pick up” games and my enjoyment seeing children having a great time with something we might throw away.
The best trade of the day – two girls!
I quickly ran out of soccer balls and it was devastating to have to turn children away.
The bag balls are used as a fundraiser for Open World Cause.
